Acrylic painting of an elephant couple cuddling in front of an abstract, vaguely galactic background

The paintings on this page are examples of previous commissions.

Some paintings have a theme - the elephants were for the commissioner’s parents’ anniversary.

You’ll notice that some paintings are a variation of a previous painting - the koi above and abstract below are examples.

Other folks want to work with an idea from scratch - my peacock painting is a good example. (Not on this page but his judgy butt is everywhere in my shop.)

FAQ’s

Abstract foresty, softly spiky painting in greens and mints with pops of purple and pink.
  • It will depend on the size and complexity of the work but 6-8 weeks from the time the proposal is complete is good starting point.

I take only a few commissions at a time to keep the queue short but I do work in a first come, first served system. If you are in the queue, I can keep you posted on your position.

  • Unless it is a work requiring unusual elements (say, very thick amounts of paint from icing bags), pricing follows a formula by square inch and substrate.

Paper tends to less expensive than canvas or gesso board (hard wooden board with the same hanging profile as canvas but capable of holding more weight without warping.)

    Some examples:

    • 11×14 on paper: $200

    • 11×14 on canvas/gesso board: $230

    • 18×24 on paper: $560

    • 18×24 on canvas/gesso board: $650

Reach out with the commission request form below for an estimate. You are also welcome to send me your budget and I can give you ideas that fit your needs.

  • Yes! We agree on the initial sketch and other parameters in the proposal but two small changes are allowed past that point.

What does that mean? Well, I won’t recolor the whole painting at that point since that would be a whole new painting but changing a background element or certain details would be ok.

Honestly, this clause is to prevent abuse more than anything else. I will be sending you pictures and asking for feedback throughout the entire process. This clause is for changing things we already agreed upon and I already painted.

  • No. While I’d love to have La Prima Nerda be my primary job, it is not. So, I open commissions every so often when I can manage them and close them when I have a few queued up. My email newsletter folks have first access to commission opportunities.
